Despite all the injuries that have depleted the Los Angeles Clippers, the team has managed to scratch together enough wins to remain, at least, respectable.

With a couple notable exceptions, the Clippers’ wins have been awful to watch and their losses have been even uglier. Several times now, the Clips have amassed a substantial second-half lead only to shut down in shocking fashion at the end.

It’s disheartening.

Nevertheless, it looks like the time of “Caveman” Chris Kaman has finally arrived, exceeding everyone’s expectations with his offensive production, leading the Clippers with 20.2 points per game.

It hasn’t been easy, though; Kaman had some nights when he just couldn’t find the hoop and the Clippers missed his scoring.

Also, it seems, that Baron Davis is actually playing with more motivation this season, which is a big thing, considering how he has mailed it in since making the moving down the coast.

With Blake Griffin’s return already on the horizon, the Clippers need to stay healthy so they can get things going at full steam.

Then, and only, then, can the Clippers hope for a run at a playoff spot. If not, then pundits will continue to support the myth that the Clippers are cursed.

Go Clips!

Are the Los Angeles Clippers really cursed?

Was it too much to ask for Blake Griffin to make it through the season without any serious injuries?

Was it too much to ask for Griffin to just make it to Wednesday night’’s season opener against the hated Los Angeles Lakers?

Griffin already went through a couple of injuries during preseason, with Clippers fans wincing and crossing their fingers both times.

This time, it seems he re-aggravated his left knee, after a thunderous dunk late in the third quarter in an exhibition victory over the New Orleans Hornets. Griffin hurt his knee upon landing but was not pulled from the game or request treatment.

The latest word is that Griffin may miss up to six weeks with a stress fracture of his left patella.

Just when you think they finally got things together…

Coach Mike Dunleavy was already dealing with injured starters. With Marcus Camby still dealing with a previous injury, Griffin was going to get the nod in the starting five.

However, the team does not revolve around Griffin. Nor, does it revolve around Baron Davis, who was the target of criticism for his lack of enthusiasm and drive, last season.

Nevertheless, the Clippers will need Davis to pull himself together so he can pull the right strings and help the Clippers earn some respectability.

“Caveman” Chris Kaman needs to bounce back with a vengeance after last season’s injury-riddled mess.

Al Thornton? Please stay healthy.

Eric Gordon? Don’t get injured, please.

In fact, can the whole team just, please, please not get hurt?

All this talk of curses and bad juju has haunted the Clippers and their fans long enough.

Beating the Lakers in the season opener might be a tall order for the spunky Clips. Right now, though, the more important thing is for Griffin to get healthy. No need to rush him back for that first game, unless he’s honestly out of the woods with the knee injury.

Knees are so fragile. You don’t realize how much you appreciate them until they start to ache.

Remember Shaun Livingston?

Yeah, sad story.

Here’s hoping the Clips rewrite their failed history.

No more curses!

Down with the Lakers!

Fellow Los Angeles Clippers fans, I salute you.

The makeup of a Clippers fan consists of a great deal of loyalty and patience mixed in with varying doses of masochism and suffering…loads of suffering.

Real Clippers fans don’t cheer for the hated Los Angeles Lakers…ever. But, whenever our boys do well, you’ll find Lakers fans who will say, unashamed, they cheer for the Clips.

Step off, Lakers fans. We don’t need your support.

Isn’t your bandwagon enough?

There have been many, many moments in the inglorious history of our Clips where management has practically hit the reset button. While this has yielded favorable results, on rare occasions, something always happens that brings the good times to a grinding halt.

Many argue the Clippers are cursed.

I don’t believe in curses.

It’s time to let go of the past and get ready for the Blake Griffin era.

The kid is an awesome physical specimen and has an indomitable heart. He has become the centerpiece of the future of the Clippers and will certainly attract a lot of attention.

However, it would be unfair to lay heavy expectations on Griffin and the Clippers in his rookie year. Injuries depleted the Clips, last season, and the most important thing is for everyone to stay healthy.

Griffin? He’ll come along.

If you still haven’t seen him play, it’s like someone bottled an Oklahoma F5 tornado. The kid’s explosive and it’ll be fun to see Baron Davis feeding him passes when he comes in.

The future is bright, fellow Clippers fans.

We’re going to cheer for our team, regardless, but now we have something to build on, for years to come.

And, if any Lakers fans start talking trash, just remember: haters will hate.

Go Clips.
